Returning to sport after a mastectomy is a question many women ask. It is an important stage, for the body as much as for the spirit.

When to start again?

  • Always consult your medical team before starting again. As a general rule:
  • Gentle walking: 2 to 4 weeks after surgery
  • Soft sports (yoga, gentle swimming): 4 to 8 weeks
  • Moderate sport: 3 to 6 months
  • Intense sport: depending on your surgeon's recommendations

Recommended sports to start with

Gentle yoga, walking, swimming (once the scars have closed) and cycling are particularly well suited. They work the body gently while promoting recovery.

Doing sport with a The Nipples Lab prosthesis

Our prostheses are designed to stay in place during all your activities. The B-460 medical adhesive resists perspiration, water and intense movement. Many of our clients wear their prostheses during sports sessions, swimming and even marathons.

The importance of sport for psychological reconstruction

Beyond the physical benefits, returning to sport plays a crucial role in rebuilding self-image. Doing the same activities as before, with the same body (or almost), is a powerful signal sent to one's own brain.
